Burl Ring

Burl wood is known for having a beautiful, erratic grain. After knocking a tiny burl off a tree in Wales over the summer, I used a few hand tools to make this ring.

I went for a geometric and masculine shape to contrast with the organic patterns of the wood grain. Finally I drilled three holes along the side and inserted 3 domed copper studs before finishing with linseed oil.
Definitely a materials-led project.
