Urban Gardening System

2009

Growing-System
Beech, plywood, aluminium cans

This urban gardening system was the result of my final project whilst studying on Central Saint Martin's Art & Design Foundation.
It is designed to enable people with busy lifestyles to grow their own vegetables/herbs and to facilitate an appreciation for the natural environment.
A water reservoir at the bottom of each pot holds enough rain to sustain the average plant over 2 weeks without rainfall. Perforated drinks cans filled with moss form wicks that suck up water from the reservoir as it is needed, while a funnel attached to the front of the pot collects rainwater.
The removable 'green house' attachment can be used for plants that require warmer, more humid conditions to flourish.
